Our new Tandem stroller.
The section closest to the pushing handle comes with a bracket to put the carseat on. I doubt we’ll ever use it because I really believe the carseat should stay IN THE CAR. I plan to wear the baby in the Moby wrap or something all the time. I’d really like to get a bunch more carriers, too. I think the real occupants of this stroller will be M2 and G1 because they’re 2 and 4 years old. They’re the ones who are too tired and too wild to walk sometimes. I don;t like that the cargo area is hard to access. I do like the little box on the handle that closes up because my new blackberry phone fits perfectly inside of it. I don’t like how heavy it is and how tricky it is to fold. I do like that it has cupholders. This is my first tandem stroller. I don’t foresee us ever needing another. I wish I would have shopped around more but we needed it NOW. I am so big and uncomfortable that I can’t carry kids and their stuff any more.

RRRaarrr
I knew I was a tiger!
But seriously, I was trying to find a knitting pattern for this amazing sweater the main character was wearing in the movie. It’s impossible, though because it’s knitted from strips of fabric and twine.

maybe she doesn’t need help
OK- maybe M1 (the ten year old daughter from a recent posting entitled Communication Skills for Kids) is doing better than I thought. On a recent playdate, M1 visited the home of T. Apparently T is quite a hottie. Unfortunately, T is more interested in R (who hasn’t even begun to notice boys yet.) The three of them were chumming around, like 3 friends do, when M1 hands R her Nintendo DS to play, and sweet, innocent R retreats to the couch for the rest of the afternoon. Did M1 do this on purpose? She’s 10- could she possibly have intended to get R out of the picture, in order to further her relationship with T? My mind is reeling with amusement, fear and wonder. Maybe I shouldn’t have indulged her interests in psychology. I hope as she grows up she uses this power for good. I don’t, however, think I am qualified to teach her communication skills, though- I don’t know if I ever would have thought of that. I wasn’t even there, I heard it second-hand from the other moms at the playdate. I want to know if it was deliberate, but I don’t want to really encourage the whole dating-drama thing. One thing is for sure, though, no more Suite Life of Zack and Cody for her. I’ve gotta blame someone, Surely I have never taught her how to give the “other woman” the slip. Watch out for this one, hot little boys of the world.
No baby yet.
I’m thinking this one is holding out for the prettier December birth stone, in an effort to bring balance to my mother’s ring. Oh yeah- that’s right, i don’t HAVE a mother’s ring. I wonder why. It isn’t like I haven’t been asking for one for YEARS. Or one of those necklaces with 6 little girl charms on it. Hmmm, maybe I’ll get one for Christmas. Or Hannukah. Or My Birthday.

Learning Every Day
Today I learned that if you (or your 2 yr old) stick a car key into the USB port of a laptop, it will turn off but there won’t appear to be any permanent damage.

E2 the Blanket Diva
OK so I started a baby blanket a few weeks ago and then I realized I didn’t have enough yarn, so I calculated it out really quickly, and it would have been like $70 to make this blanket. NO WAY. I went to the craft store and then I discovered there was no more of my dye lot, either. THEN I decided that if I kept my Dye Lot #1 on the outside edges, and bought a different dye lot for the inner part of the blanket, it might work. THEN I discovered there wasn’t enough of any ONE dye lot in the whole store to make this blanket. SO, I decided to make it anyways, just smaller. So Instead of a $70 blanket, I have a $40 baby blanket. Not only did I have to go through all of that for the yarn, but after I got 2 skeins into it I had to unravel the entire thing because I had been trying to make my own pattern with a zig zag and it wasn’t working out well. SO- I found a free pattern online and altered it (very easily) because it was recommending 3 different yarn colors (DUH- just don’t switch yarn) and it worked out very well. I did screw up at some point but I was able to get back on track and it’s not too terribly noticeable.
SO if the blanket is what she’s been waiting for, then she can go ahead and come out now. Smart cookie, I still haven’t finished the blanket I started for my 2 yr old daughter. Or my 2 yr old niece. Or my 4 yr old nephew. Or my 6 month old nephew. Man, I suck. No wonder she doesn’t want to come out.
DDC Bead Exchange
I participated in a bead exchange with over 30 women in my Due Date Club. I wanted to post a picture of my final beaded project. I didn’t make this necklace/bracelet set, my oldest daughter actually did. I will never wear it because the “poking out parts” are stiff and look really goofy. They were supposed to be floppy, I had it all pictured in my mind and it looked beautiful but this is what I got instead. It showcases the beads nicely, but looks ridiculous. The Matching bracelet might be wearable, if my wrist triples in size at any point. I guess i could wear it as an anklet. We supplemented with 2 jars of green/amber glass beads, one step larger than seed beads. (I know nothing about bead sizes, sorry)
In the background is my little Tibetan Elephant painting, incidentally, it has beads too (In the corner swirlies.) It lives on my kitchen counter because I haven’t finished it yet. And I don’t know how I’ll frame it.
If you click on the pictures, you can see the beads up close, each one came with a birth affirmation. I love my DDC, I am so glad I participated with this pregnancy. I highly recommend DDC’s, but I can’t highly recommend pregnancy at this point.

Leaf me alone, he says.

First of all, in my continuing efforts to NOT have this mythical baby, I found a neat website for timing your contractions online. No Download required, just click on “start timing contractions” in the top header bar (no need to subscribe to the newsletter.)
Now, on to the ever-important leaf war update. This morning I awoke to the sounds of a leaf blower. Oh NO, I thought, the neighbors have bought a leaf blower and are going to put the leaves BACK on our lawn- eek!
I was wrong, however. Apparently the people across the street from the neighbors with the tree have decided to blow back as well. I was beginning to feel bad for them, since they are directly across the street from the lazy people with the big tree. Their lawn looked as bad as (These tree people need a name..).
I’ve got to admit, it felt really nice to see the leaves being blown back by someone other then my husband. The two elderly people next door (and next door to them) have been raking these leaves for like 50 years. ACTUALLY- they said, the original homeowner would keep them raked himself, before the wind had a chance to blow them anywhere else. These people are renters, though- and STILL haven’t raked up what my DH blew back to them. Talk about stubborn:-)
