Free Printable Kindergarten Worksheets

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrshannigan @ 8:02 pm

TLS books arranges their worksheets by grade level and by subject, for easy browsing

Kidzone also organizes printables by subject and has lesson plans, unit studies and downloadable easy readers

ABC Teach has worksheets grouped by subject and also has teacher helps, cut & paste activities, booklets and more

Activity Pad has dot-to-dots, coloring pages, word searches, color by number and mazes

Edhelper has nice page preview screens, monthly read and color books, and themed units (memberships available around $20/yr)

Enchanted Learning (also $20/yr) was one of the first free printables websites on the internet. They have over 20,000 printables, and there are so many ways they’re organized you won’t have a problem finding exactly what you’re looking for. They have previews of every page and answer sheets, too.

ESL Writing Wizard allows you to enter your text into their program, and then print it on the three-lined rule that’s commonly used in Kindergarten. You know what I mean, it’s the one with the dotted line across the center. This is a great way to help kids learn handwriting. We use a similar program and have the kids copy eloquent sentences from children’s literature to learn handwriting, grammar and punctuation. Copywork is an important part of a Classical Education.

SoftSchools has several fun games in addition to their worksheets

S & S Software has a worksheet generator. All you do is pick your category (addition, subtraction, mixed…) then fill in the blanks (how many problems per page; 10, 20, 50…) and then pick a numerical range (answers up to 20, problems containing 1’s…) and the program will generate a worksheet and an answer sheet for you

RHL School boasts that their worksheets are truly unique; and from what I’ve seen, that’s accurate. Most of what I’ve seen there is for older students, but their English Basics are a fantastic grammar and writing program that can be used as a guide for younger students or as a stand-alone for older students

The Discovery Channel Education Puzzle Maker is a fun way to bring vocabulary words into crossword puzzles, word searches and more. You can make your own Soduku, mazes ad hidden messages.

Here’s another Worksheet Wizard. This one has numbers, shapes, colors and arithmetic

Kid Crosswords is a good resource for kids who like to be challenged with these word puzzles

Kiddy House has phonics, reading, animals, science, holidays and more

Free Phonics Worksheets is sponsored by the Rock ‘n’ Learn Phonics program, which, incidentally, is a lot of fun. They have songs that teach the letter sounds. I heard their demo CD about 15 years ago and still remember all the words. “Vowels can make their long sounds, AEIOU. But vowels do more than say their names they can make short sounds, too. The Vowels are AEIOU and sometimes Y sometimes Y AEIOU…”

ToyTown Treasure is run by a Christian homeschooling family in Philadelphia. They have a variety of worksheets at all levels.

List of Lists I like

Filed under: NaBloPoMo — mrshannigan @ 7:28 pm

I’m a natural-born list maker myself. Fr the past few yrs I’ve been reminding myself occasionally that I don’t NEED a list for certain things (things to do to relax this weekend…things to plant in garden next year if we haven’t moved….) So I’ve been loving this month’s NaBloPoMo because I’ve been free to think up new lists I would never have indulged in before.

Here are a few is a list of a few I found last night:

List of Musicals I like
(except I didn’t see her listing Annie…)
Quick bits of advice for new teachers
(who happens to live in Hawaii and in addition to having a beautiful blog does give good advice)
1o inventions that rocked my world
top 10 secret perks of having kids
ten things phyllis is thinking about at any given moment (phyllis is a dog)

Always learning

I’m sitting here watching a video tutorial that’s supposed to teach me how to get work on one of the freelancing websites, I am reminded of the suite101 classes that I thought were so stupid before I used them and now I think they’re genius. I am also reminded that I should focus. So off I go, back to Suite 101- canceling my registration at this freelancing thing. Until I am constantly meeting my 1 a week requirement for Suite101 then I have no business really looking for work elsewhere. it would be stupid to leave with the whole webbing-thing working for me over there. each day I make more & more money for an hour of work a week. the editor is just so harsh. But she makes me a better writer. So I’m going back. Just in case you wondered.
