Bloggers Guide to Managing Paid Posts

Filed under: blogging — mrshannigan @ 9:08 pm

I have a little system for knowing which posts are sponsored and which ones are not. If you’re using sponsored posts in your blog then you might want to listen up. Using labels or tags can help you remember which ones are sponsored and which ones are not.

Advertisers like knowing that their content isn’t being placed on a blog that is void of noncommercial content. Who on earth would want to read that? So what is a blogger to do? Use your tags. Make sure that all of your content is tagged appropriately. While I don’t think it’s kosher to use a “sponsored” tag or one that says “they paid me to write this” or anything else because they like it to look a bit discreet usually, you can simply leave the tag field blank. And that is a good tool your readers can use to know which posts are sponsored and which posts aren’t.

If you’re using Blogger or Blogspot, you can view all of your posts and their tags from the “Edit Posts” screen. This makes it easy to delete the posts once they’ve “served their time.” Each Paid blogging program has different rules for how long they expect the sponsored posts to remain in your archive. Some programs require you to leave it up for 30 days and others require you only to leave it until you’re paid. Make sure you follow the rules of the service you’re using, so you don’t end up banned.

Also, if you’re reviewing a product or website that you’re just learning about, it’s OK to admit that you just found it- you don’t have to act like it’s the best thing in your life. You don’t have to be a total sell-out. Just be honest. Most of the businesses who buy blog advertising really just want to get the word out there. Speaking your honest opinions helps them gauge public perception, too. If you mention in your post that their forum registration is difficult, you’re doing them a favor and they will appreciate it. In fact, they might even hire you again later to repost when they fix the problem.

They like to see real content above and below the post that references their business. This would be an example of just such a post. I hope you enjoyed the little tidbits and caught on to my system. watch those tags, OK.

Stay tuned for my easy system for checking your favorite blogs and dropping a bunch of entrecards in a short amount of time.

List of ways my blackberry tries to make me a better mom

1. I brought snack to E1’s girl scout meeting when no one remembered whose turn it was because my blackberry told me
2. I can take pictures of everything little thing they do because even if my camera batteries are dead, I’d never let my phone die
3. If their daddy has a horrible infection in his tooth & just so happens to need antibiotics every 6 hours I can set the reminder to keep him alive
4. I can record voice notes so when they invent animpromptu song about ham omelettes I can record it.

Anti Virus Protection

Don’t let germs hack your immune system.

Just me rambling 2/6 of the little s are ill today. Fever, goopiness and crankiness. And we did such a good job of not touching ANYTHING on our recent visits to a friend in the hospital. Three days in one week. I knew we were playing with fire.

Wait a minute- the sick kids didn’t even go with us.

What the heck?

So those of us who went to the germ-infested hospital aren’t sick.

Maybe we accidentally uploaded the virus to their systems. Aren’t germs a nasty thing?
