Dollarville CD Rom

Filed under: Math — mrshannigan @ 3:59 pm

Dollarville CD Rom, a game to learn about money- I’m not sure why they weren’t able to play it last night, they don’t always interpret error messages correctly, G1 said the grey box said “You should play JumpStart Kindergarten Instead” and since I was busy putting M2 and G2 to bed, I just told her “good reading, go play JumpStart”

Update= still haven’t gotten it to work yet. Need to contact the manufacturer; they system requirements are fine.

El Pato Paco- Spanish-Language-Learning CD Rom
ages 4 and up- my 4 yr old so far LOVES it. Right now M2 (age4) and G2 (age2) are behind me on the kid computer, singing some song in Spanish but they don’t know the words, so they’re hammana humming it to the tune, with made-up words while the computer sings it in Spanish. Very very sweet…

In Spanish, I am almost dead…

Free Classics Online- Reading List

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrshannigan @ 3:11 pm

If you’re looking to build up your home library or to review books before you buy, or if you want to print the classics yourself (perhaps in a large double-spaced font for note-taking and easy focusing) then you’ll want to check out these links:
Free Books Online; Classics
Classics Online

And here are reading lists to help determine which books are appropriate for which age groups

The NEH has divided their list from kindergarten through high school. The College-bound reading list is specifically for high schoolers headed for college. The Kids Reads list begins at birth and goes through high school, too.

Amazon affiliates

Why do they make it so difficult? Damn, I feel like I’m going through 25 screens to make one stupid item link. I’d like to just punch in the ISBN #’s from the back of all the books I’m referencing, and then be able to get all the codes at once. We’re homeschoolers, we read and love a lot of books. I want to sell them through my kids history project blog and Amazon is making it so difficult. My next step is to try and do a wish list or a favorites list. I’ll bet that’s easier. Next time I have a spare 3 hours I’ll try it (don’t hold your breath, I haven’t had a spare 3 hours since…. childbirth) I tried using their textlink program but it was hard.

STAR DOLL MOMS WARNING

Filed under: Website Reviews — mrshannigan @ 2:07 am

If your kids are liking stardoll, then please don’t let them go to cute star doll dot com because it is a child porn site.

The front page looks like a normal kids game page. As you scroll down there are some questionable games- like bartending and dating which was enough to not allow it in my house- and on the bottom menu bar its straight up child porn, soliciting creep icky things. Ban it from your house- block the domain from your browser whatever you need to do just don’t allow it. Its horrible. How sick of them to market porn to children. Someone from their site actually (anonymously, creep) tried to leave the website in the comment section to one of my posts here- like I’m NOT gonna check it out or something. I rejected the comment but I do feel I must warn you. If I had accidentally not paid much attention while screening it I would have just sent my kids there to play- imagine.

Now one of these days I’ll have to tell you the midget story.
