June 2-5 Not sure of the whole itinerary but we’ll be visiting Pioneer square, the Oregon Zoo, the Oregon History Center and OMSI. I found the Oregon Zoo has great resources for teachers on their website. We’re traveling with a large group of homeschooling families, it’s going to be so much fun. I need to check customer reviews of the hotel we’re staying at, the idea of staying with the group sounds like so much fun but the name of the hotel isn’t consistently reputable throughout the U.S. (lucky me- the hotel reviewer, gets the inside scoop) I don’t want to switch away from the group, but I also don’t want to stay if it’s overpriced or dirty. $71 a night isn’t bad for a big city, but it’s by the airport, and you just never know by the airport. They have a pool and a spa and continental breakfast, but do they have complimentary high speed internet access? Some hotels charge, and what about parking? I’d rather spend $ on a better room than on parking. When we went to CA last summer, they wanted to charge us $12 each time we used the parking lot, so we just parked across the street. And they wanted to charge $10 per day for internet access WTF??? I think it was like a 4 star hotel, too. Marriott I think. But the toiletries were Bath & Bodyworks, I think. That was nice. And it was beautiful, the view was beautiful. The staff was friendly. Anyhow- back to Portland. I can’t wait to get the itinerary. I want to get together with friends from my Mothering Magazine Due Date Club. Lunch, at a park or something. Do I even want to Bring Mr H? He once said “zoos are for retards.”

We’re going to Portland
June 2-5 Not sure of the whole itinerary but we’ll be visiting Pioneer square, the Oregon Zoo, the Oregon History Center and OMSI. Do You know the Secret?
Several years ago, I read Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, it was like an Oprah AHA moment. The message was, trust your instincts, trust that things always turn out for the best, trust that things will always turn out the way you want them. Don’t stress about things because that doesn’t work and it detracts you from your goals; prevents you from seeing opportunities becuase you’re focused on bad stuff. When I was in high school, I had this neener neener neener song I used to sing in my head “I always get my waaaayyy” Because it was true- I did. And now I find myself singing it more and more often in my head. That’s part of the secret; knowing things will turn out the way you want them. So in comes The Secret; it’s the same knowledge that’s existed since the beginnings of civilization, only all wrapped up in a snazzy year 2000’s wrapper. It’s very palatable that way; it comes in a DVD, an audio book and a regular book. I recommend the audio book. The DVD is too corny, it’s comedy, really. the special effects are a crack up. Watch it after you’ve heard the Audio. The book sucks in comparison to the Audio. Unlike other audio books, The Secret uses the real voices of the people interviewed, in all their excited inflection that can’t be written. So get the audio, stick it in your car and just listen. It’s good stuff. By Rhonda Byrne.
let’s cut the crap here
and start treating caffeine like the drug that it is. Yeah. I popped a caffeine pill this morning because I ran out of sugar and didn’t want to put sweet & low in my coffee. And you know what, I’d do it again. One cup of coffee has 40 caffeines in it (are they mgs or mcgs or what- I don’t care, I’m cutting the crap, remember, it’s 40 units of caffeine, OK) Anyway- a shot of espresso has 2/3 that (so it’s like 26.6 units) A double shot latte has 53.2 units but this little yellow pill has 100 units. I’m not messing around, that’s like 2 1/2 cups of coffee. Without even staining my teeth. It’s genius. AND- I was able to conquer my water toxicity thing because I drank water instead of coffee. I told you I wasn’t messing around.
